Other Novices

Religious life with the Dominican Order is a unique charism and is distinct from religious life with other orders and even the priesthood. The main point of the novice year is to acclimate oneself to the daily routine of community life, study the history and charism of the Dominican Order more closely, and develop a deeper prayer life—all to confirm the original sense of being called here. Brothers Corwin, Peter Junípero, and Joseph Mary have discerned that the Holy Spirit is leading them to take simple vows (the first vows of several) with the Dominicans of the Western Province and as such will continue their journey in the studentate at St. Albert’s Priory in Oakland, California and the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology in Berekey.

Two of our brothers, John Patrick and Justin Gable, however, discerned this year that this particular calling was not for them. The reasons for leaving are of course highly individual, but we bless our brothers on their way and are confident that they will make an impact in the world for Christ and His Church wherever they go. Pray for them please!
